Up for auction today is an estate fresh Antique Vintage - CHESHIRE - C.R.R. Brass Top Bell Bottom Whale Oil Railroad Lantern Lamp with Clear Etched C.R.R. Barrel Globe. (The lantern is Fresh from a Vermont Estate, I am very confident it is CHESHIRE RAILROAD but obviously I can not guarantee that it is - the cage has no makers name but I believe it is made by the Steam Gauge and Lantern Company.) The lantern measures approximately 17 inches tall with the handle up, 11 1/2 inches tall with the handle down and 6 inches across the bottom. The cage is strong and sturdy with no rusted through holes or repairs - nice finish. The brass top has no cracks or splits, there are a few dents. The glass font has no chips or cracks, needs a quick solder as it is loose from the bell bottom. The globe measures 6 inches tall, 2 1/2 inches across the top and 3 1/2 inches across the bottom - no cracks, a few chips on the bottom rim as pictured and a few small nicks as you always see on the rims that can not be seen when in a cage.
